Tips & Info for sellers & buyers
Your aim?:To sell as much as possible quick and cheap or to make extra money and take your time? Do you label stuff or wait for offers? Expect people to haggle!! |
Take a friend: To help, have fun with, be an extra set of eyes and to watch your stall if you need to leave it. Be aware when you are unloading that you can be inundated with interested buyers. Do not be afraid to be firm and make them leave you until you are ready - however this is a time when 2 sets of eyes can certainly be an advantage. |
Money: You pay for your stall on entry so make sure you have it to hand. Bring lots of change with you too. Take carrier bags for sold items. |
Table/Clothes Rail/Chairs/Plastic Ground Sheet - All helpful tools when selling. Pack these items last so you can unload on to them when you arrive. |
Holding items – If someone wants to come back later for an item – take the money before you save it for them. If you intend to leave before the end of the car boot tell the buyer what time to be back by. |
Clothing and essentials – When we are outdoor we have no shelter so when it is hot you need to be prepared – water, suncream, hat, umbrella. If we have a rain shower then you need to have a plastic cover handy to pop over your items. When we are indoor bring a coat, the early winter mornings are a bit chilly! |
Pets are welcome - ONLY if they are friendly and sociable. Any mess must be cleared up by the owner immediately. |
Car & Security – Do not leave your car doors open all day with interior lights and radios on – Every car boot sees at least one car with a flat battery. Use your car to safely lock away/hide handbags or takings. |
Leaving early? Please let our staff know when you are being parked up if you need to leave early. They will make sure you are in a position that enables you to get out easily. |
Use your common sense.
Goods which you cannot test on site are risky.
Do not be afraid to haggle.
Do not intimidate sellers – give them space
If you are concerned about any items you see on sale then please alert a member of our staff.

CJ's Car Boot strives to be a friendly and family orientated event. We therefore expect all our visitors to act in an acceptable manner or they will not be welcome. CJ's Car Boot reserves the right to refuse entry or remove anybody from our site at any time if we chose to – we do not have to give a reason. The police will be called if that person will not comply. REMEMBER: The car boot site is on a very large showground which means that driving needs to be slow to avoid accidents onsite.
